Kernels for Global Constraints

چکیده
Bessière et al. (AAAI’08) showed that several intractable global constraints can be efficiently propagated when certain natural problem parameters are small. In particular, the complete propagation of a global constraint is fixed-parameter tractable in k – the number of holes in domains – whenever bound consistency can be enforced in polynomial time; this applies to the global constraints ATMOST-NVALUE and EXTENDED GLOBAL CARDINALITY (EGC). In this paper we extend this line of research and introduce the concept of reduction to a problem kernel, a key concept of parameterized complexity, to the field of global constraints. In particular, we show that the consistency problem for ATMOST-NVALUE constraints admits a linear time reduction to an equivalent instance on O(k) variables and domain values. This small kernel can be used to speed up the complete propagation of NVALUE constraints. We contrast this result by showing that the consistency problem for EGC constraints does not admit a reduction to a polynomial problem kernel unless the polynomial hierarchy collapses.

متن کاملGenerating GPU Code from a High-Level Representation for Image Processing Kernels
We present a framework for representing image processing kernels based on decoupled access/execute metadata, which allow the programmer to specify both execution constraints and memory access pattern of a kernel. The framework performs source-to-source translation of kernels expressed in highlevel framework-specific C++ classes into low-level CUDA or OpenCL code with effective device-dependent ...
متن کاملTreelet Kernel Incorporating Chiral Information
Molecules being often described using a graph representation, graph kernels provide an interesting framework which allows to combine machine learning and graph theory in order to predict molecule’s properties. However, some of these properties are induced both by relationships between the atoms of a molecule and by constraints on the relative positioning of these atoms. Graph kernels based sole...
متن کاملSupply chain network design with multi- mode demand based on acceptance degree of fuzzy constraints violated
This paper designs a mathematical model for supply chain network design problem including plants, distributors and customers in fuzzy environment. Each plant and distributor has several levels capacities. A multi-mode demand strategy is considered for the customers where only one of the modes is to be selected for each customer. Considering the acceptance degree of fuzzy constraints violated, a...
